Introduction
HACK CHECK ("the App") lets you look over security-related aspects of your own iPhone, based on the information the device makes available.
The App does not collect your check results. They are stored only on your device.
This policy explains what the App does and does not collect.
1. How check results are handled
1-1. Results are stored only on your device
The results of a check the App performs — the items examined, the findings, and the values read — are stored only on your device.
- They are never sent to our servers
- We have no way to view them
- You can delete the saved history at any time
- The stored data is excluded from device backups
1-2. Exporting results yourself
You can export your results to a file, or copy them. Where that content goes is your decision, and we play no part in it.
Exported content includes information about your network configuration and device state. Please be careful about who you share it with.
2. Communication required by the checks
Some checks require communication with our servers by their very nature.
| What is checked | Why communication is required |
|---|---|
| Whether traffic is being intercepted | We must connect to our server and verify the certificate chain |
| Whether name resolution has been altered | We must resolve our own domain and compare it against the expected value |
| Your source IP address and network operator | The server cannot report what it does not receive |
| Whether the App has been modified | The attestation issued by the device must be verified server-side |
We do not record or store the contents of this communication. It is processed only as far as the check requires, and ends once the response is returned.
3. Information collected to maintain quality
The App collects the following information in order to identify problems and improve.
| Type | Contents | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Crash records | Technical records of the App stopping, device model, OS version | Identifying and fixing defects |
| Usage statistics | Aggregated counts of which screens and features were used | Deciding what to improve |
These are handled in a form that does not identify individuals, and contain none of your check results.
Collection uses Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase, provided by Google LLC.
4. Advertising
The App displays advertising through AdMob, provided by Google LLC.
- We serve non-personalized advertising only
- We do not track your activity in other apps or on websites (we do not request App Tracking Transparency permission)
- In serving advertising, the ad SDK collects information about the device and about ad display

5. Access to device features
The App asks your permission for the following.
Permission is optional; if you decline, only that particular check is skipped.
| Feature | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Location (while using the App) | To check whether the Wi-Fi network you are connected to is encrypted. On iOS, reading Wi-Fi information requires location permission. Your location itself is never collected, recorded or transmitted. |
6. Disclosure to third parties
We do not provide your information, including check results, to third parties.
This does not apply where disclosure is required by law.
7. Retention
- Check results: stored only on your device. We do not retain them
- Crash records and usage statistics: retained according to each service's own retention period
8. Your rights
- You can delete your check history from within the App at any time
- Deleting the App also deletes all check history held on the device
- If you would like to ask about the information we collect, please contact us through the support page below
9. Use by children
The App is not directed at children in particular.
10. Changes to this policy
Any changes will be posted on this page. We will notify you within the App of significant changes.
